PVC trim is ideal for many reasons!

If you are looking for molding that is easy to clean and maintain, PVC trim including PVC beadboard might be the perfect option for you. How can you keep your PVC trim looking great for years?

PVC Trim 101

PVC trim is well loved because it offers all of the pros of woods without any of the cons. PVC trim cannot rot and will not allow insects to burrow inside. It won’t be affected by high levels of humidity or moisture in the home or expand during certain times of the year. It also holds paint very well if you are looking to paint your beadboard or trim. It will go on smoothly and evenly and last for years.

How Can I Maintain My PVC Trim?

PVC paneling, molding, and beadboard are incredibly easy to maintain when contrasted with other materials. Here are some of the easy ways to keep your PVC trim clean:

  • Dusting: Whenever you dust the rest of the room, don’t forget to dust your trim as well
  • Dirt & Debris: Using a mild soap and warm water and a soft cloth, remove any excess dirt or grime from your beadboard
  • Soap Scum or Hard Water Deposits: Use a commercial cleaner designed to remove soap scum if you need to take care of the PVC trim in your kitchen or bathroom
  • Scuff Marks or Grass Stains: If you have a family, there is almost a 100% chance that your PVC trim in the hallway or foyer will get scuff marks or grass stains. Use a magic eraser or specially formulated cleaner to get them off without hurting the PVC material.
  • Adhesive or Gum: Again, if you have a family, your PVC trim is bound to get some gum or adhesive stuck to the surface. Use Goo Gone or another cleaner designed for sticky substances to get it off.
